And there’s the bride’s kiss at the finish line… Claudia and Thomas made history with their wedding and celebrated Europe’s first running wedding. You started the Reschensee Run in South Tyrol unmarried and crossed the finish line married. What a great idea that two passionate runners should fully dedicate their yes-word to their great passion and make it their wedding motto. Wedding dress and suit in combination with running shoes – for some a daring combination. But for a running wedding in a wedding dress, this is without question the perfect styling. Get inspiration from having most groomsmen weddings of all time.
After more than 100,000 running kilometers together, more than 150 pairs of used running shoes, more than 300 completed marathons and longer distances, several countries crossed by runners over 68,000 euros collected donations, Claudia and Thomas decided to get married. For the enthusiastic runners it was immediately clear that only a wedding on the running track would be considered. “Thomas is my second half. I would like to share the adventure of life with him. Together we not only celebrated records and victories. Thomas was by my side even in difficult times, ”says the happy bride.
“If I get married, it will be with Thomas on the running track.”
Claudia
“At some point I’ll take you to the registry office.”

Run-in wedding in a wedding dress: this is how it works
The bridal couple started well-styled with more than 2,000 participants in the first block. But this time, unlike usual, they accepted a little detour and already after 500 m made a detour to the registry office of the Graun community on the Reschenpass (South Tyrol). There they were civilly married according to Italian law. But there was no time for an agape. The newly married couple had to quickly get back on the 15.3 km running route around the largest lake in South Tyrol and crossed the finish line happily married. There has never been anything like this at an official running event in Europe. This wedding definitely lives up to the name “motto wedding”.
Love at first sight in a running competition
Claudia and Thomas share a love story that couldn’t be more beautifully written. The two got to know each other – how could it be otherwise – at a running competition. They were so impressed by each other that they simply started together at the Rhine-Ruhr Marathon in Duisburg and after 21.1 kilometers ran to the finish line holding hands. This is love at first sight! “When I crossed the finish line with Claudia in our first half marathon together in 2004, it was clear to me that this was the right one! Our joint running and charity projects have welded us together forever, ”enthuses the proud groom.
