In the Play kitchen is already cleared and stirred from the age of 2 years. With increasing age, role-playing takes on more and more space. The order is taken, the parents are cooked, it is served and eaten. Clearing and ‘rinsing’ are also part of it.
My children also enjoyed playing ‘Restaurant’ with the children’s kitchen. There were then different dishes on a blackboard to choose from. Pizza and Lego burgers were at the top of the popularity list.
It was only for our ninth birthday that we stowed the play kitchen (with a heavy heart but for reasons of space) in the basement. ‘But don’t throw it away, Mom!’ she said. Of course, we’ll keep them for our grandchildren!

It It feels very ‘real’ for children to greet customers in the shop, ask them what they want and pack things. There’s a lot of social interaction in there! And along the way, they learn how to handle money and basic arithmetic.
